Shahid Afridi, the former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, has expressed surprise at the exclusion of two all-rounders from the upcoming T20I squad for the series against Ireland and England. Currently, the Pakistan team is in Ireland for a three-match series before heading to England for four games.

In Karachi, Afridi spoke to reporters, highlighting his astonishment at the omission of Mohammad Wasim Jr. from the team after his extended presence. He also noted the absence of Aamer Jamal from the squad, emphasizing his contributions as a notable all-rounder.

"It's perplexing to see Wasim Jr. being dropped after his prolonged stay in the team," Afridi remarked. "Following Abdul Razzaq, Aamer Jamal emerged as a promising all-rounder; it's surprising he wasn't retained," he further commented.

Afridi also expressed his hopes for Babar Azam to evolve into a captain of remarkable stature. "A great captain makes crucial decisions during challenging times. We aspire for Babar to excel as a captain just as he does as a player. With these experienced players, the focus should now be on performing well in the upcoming World Cup," he concluded.

Notably, Pakistan is scheduled to play their first T20I against Ireland on Friday, followed by two more matches on Sunday and Tuesday, before embarking on a series of four T20Is against England.
